The Burloak Canoe Club had the strongest showing at the third annual Mazda Canada Knockout Event at Ontario Place on September 12, 2009. Over 8 countries competed with a strong representation from Canadian Clubs.
Burloak Canoe Club member and Canadian Olympic athlete, Adam van Koeverden presented two of his K-1 Olympic sprint kayaks to The Canadian Canoe Museum for its permanent collection. This 27 year-old sprint kayaking star has earned Olympic gold, silver and bronze medals at the Athens and Beijing Olympics as well as several Worlds and other International championships.
Congratulations to our own Scott Oldershaw for being honored with a Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Award for 2009. These prestigious awards recognize coaches whose athletes excelled at various world championships and at the Special Olympics World Winter Games.
