AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT INSURANCE AND PRIVATE BOATS

A reminder to private boat owners who store their boats at Burloak facilities. The club does not insure boats in the event of theft, damage or loss. Insurance is the responsibility of each boat owner. You should check with your insurance broker, agent or company whether your current homeowners policy covers your boat or whether you need an endorsement or separate policy.

At least one club member found out that coverage was provided by their existing comprehensive homeowners insurance policy. All that was needed was a description of the boat and an invoice showing the purchase price.The policy covers the boat not only while it is in storage but also while it is being transported to racing or training venues. The policy does not cover any damage sustained while the boat is in use on water.
