The Burloak Canoe Club, in association with The Community Foundation of Oakville, is pleased to announce the creation of a special fund to assist young men and women from Halton in their pursuit of post-secondary education opportunities.

The Trust is being established in honour of Larry's extraordinary canoe racing achievements (Gold and Silver medals at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles), and his 1997 induction into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame. He is only the second paddler in the Hall's history to gain such recognition.

The Community Foundation, a not-for-profit registered charity, will administer the Trust and manage its capital. In collaboration with the Directors of Burloak Canoe Club, the income from the Trust will be awarded annually to worthy candidates seeking financial assistance for tuition at accredited community colleges and universities.

Endowments to the Larry Cain Education Trust may be in the form of cash gifts, pledges or bequests in a will. The Community Foundation will issue receipts for tax purposes to each donor.
