Burloak's Youth programs include the both the Canoe Kids summer camp program and the Elementary Racing Program.
The Canoe Kids Summer Camp program is an introduction to sprint canoeing and kayaking in one-week sessions. All Canoe Kids are invited to join the Burloak Canoe Club and participate in the Club’s elementary program. Canoe Kids who join the club will have their membership prorated. Check out the Summer Camps section of your Oakville Parks and Recreation Brochure for registration!
The Elementary program is designed for youth between the ages of 7 and 14 years old. All children are welcome, as the program is for both experienced and inexperienced paddlers, and introduces children to the sport of sprint canoeing and kayaking. Participants will learn to paddle all boats; singles, doubles and fours as well as war canoe.
Although there are three age categories within this program (Atom, Peewee and Bantam), all of the athletes train together in a group environment. All athletes will have the opportunity to compete in age class local regattas. The Atom season culminates in the Western Ontario Division Atom Championships, while the Peewees and Bantams have the opportunity to race at the Trillium regatta (qualification necessary).
